A series of articulated masses create an intimate separation of space. Nestled on 30 acres, this retreat sought to respect its environment – dark stucco is intended to blend with the bark of the surrounding pines, southern orientation captures the views and solar potential, outdoor sanctuary space was brought to the inside with strategic window placement and a 16′ lift-slide door that connects indoor-outdoor living. With energy-efficiency a top priority, double stud construction and European tilt-turn windows cut heating demands to a fraction of typical code construction.
