ELDER

This central Boulder rebuild and second floor addition designed with the Passive House standard in mind incorporates double stud walls, German ventilation and German triple pane windows and doors – including two 16′ lift-slide doors that open the great room and kitchen to the south facing outdoor living area. With an airtightness certified at 0.5ACH@50Pa and increased levels of insulation, this home is heated and cooled by two mini-split heat pumps that are offset by a 9kW photovoltaic system. Achieving a HERS score of (-9), this home could create more energy than it is modeled to use.
